2018 Subaru WRX Review, Release and Redesign – Welcome to Newcarsuv.com, we will provide the latest information about the Subaru WRX Changes. 2018 Subaru WRX changes is one brand new car from Subaru that was released in 2018. We will also review about the price, interior, exterior and engine of the 2018 Subaru WRX Release Date.

2018 Subaru WRX Changes

Subaru of America, Inc.introduced the 2018 WRX and WRX STI, each debuting performance, comfort, design and safety enhancements for a more rewarding driving experience. The new models reach Subaru retailers in spring 2017.

The WRX STI also gets some significant upgrades under the skin, chief of which is an upgraded all-wheel-drive system. Where the STI previously used mechanical and electronic controls for its center differential, it’s now controlled fully by electronics, which Subaru says quickens and smoothes response.

A few days ago at the Detroit Auto Show Subaru finally released the new WRX and WRX STI. Unfortunately, the two cars are not as new as we hoped. Many suggested that Subaru was going to offer the new WRX and STI based on their new platform. This is unfortunately not the case. Instead, the all new 2018 Subaru WRX is nothing more than just a slightly updated 2015 car. It looks the same, and we would bet it also feels the same.

Subaru released a brand-new Impreza late last year, but the WRX STI (and the less powerful WRX) won’t be replaced until 2020 at the earliest. In the meantime, the Japanese brand has updated both models inside and out to keep them looking fresh.

2018 Subaru WRX Price

Pricing for the new 2018 Subaru WRX has been set at $34,000 – $45,000 based on current exchange rates. If there are changes on the 2018 Subaru WRX we will notify you as soon as possible, so keep follow our blog Newcarsuv.Com.

2018 Subaru WRX Specs

The WRX Limited and all STI feature redesigned LED Steering Responsive Headlights that help illuminate curves in nighttime driving. For greater versatility, all WRX and STI models now feature new roof rack mounting brackets.

For 2018, Subaru has given the WRX and WRX STI a mild refresh on the outside, and a few significant tweaks under the skin. Starting with the exterior, the lower grille openings on both models have been enlarged and given a bit of extra black trim for a more aggressive look. In fact, the change is a bit reminiscent of the dearly departed Mitsubishi Evo, with the black trim of the lower center grille extending to the bottom of the bumper. The WRX Limited and all STI models also get turning LED headlights, and the STI gets bigger 19-inch wheels.

2018 Subaru WRX Redesign

The bumper also features larger intakes as well as angled fog-lamps housings. The result is a sleeker looking performance sedan that manages to keep its age relatively well hidden. The rear of the car is mostly the same as before. The spoiler is a slightly different shape, and the tail lights are fully LED lit. Subaru also added, as an option, LED headlights on some models. These swivel when taking a corner and should provide much better visibility during nighttime driving.

A comprehensive handling enhancement for the 2018 STI includes the revised suspension tuning as featured on the WRX, plus a revised DCCD AWD system, significantly upgraded brakes and this model’s first-ever 19-inch wheels. The DCCD system, which previously used a combination of mechanical and electronic center limited slip differential control, now uses electronic control for quicker and smoother response. The 19-inch alloy wheels feature a striking Y-shaped spoke design and carry 245/35R19 tires that help raise cornering performance while giving the STI an even more aggressive stance.

New measures that reduce unwanted noise include thicker door glass, revised door sealing and a foam-filled windshield header beam. A new, larger high-definition multi-function display (5.9-inch vs. 4.3-inch before) makes it easier to see vehicle functions at a glance. WRX Limited models feature power driver’s seat lumbar adjustment. The standard WRX adds heated exterior mirrors (already standard on others), while the WRX Premium upgrades to a SUBARU STARLINK™ 7.0″ multimedia unit from the previous STARLINK 6.2″ unit.

2018 Subaru WRX Engine

With its 268-hp, 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged BOXER engine, Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring, the rally-bred WRX is a performance and value benchmark in the high-performance AWD sport-compact segment. The WRX comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission and offers an optional performance automatic transmission, the Sport Lineartronic CVT with manual mode.

Its 2.5-liter flat-four engine is not going to show up either. This is because the EJ unit currently found on the STI is one of the oldest engines currently on the market and this shows especially in its torque curve with its peak, despite being a turbocharged engine, being at 4,000 rpm. The new generation of the car is expected to retain the 2.5-liter displacement but this time around the engine will be part of Subaru’s newest generation which debuted on the new WRX.

The new generation is expected to make use of a smaller 2-liter unit which would be able to provide around 330 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The major difference over the current 2.5-liter engine which makes its torque at above 4,000 rpm would be that the new smaller unit would provide 90% of that torque between 1,500 and 5,500 rpm which would not only make it faster but also a lot better to drive.
