For 2018, the Mustang gets all sorts of changes that could add up to a big improvement.

The new generation Mustang was released in 2015, and it is now available with restyled body and turbocharged engine, all as standard. The design is still fresh, but the 2018 Ford Mustang will be much better.

The mid-cycle update brings new sheet metal from the A-pillar forward. The headlights are smaller than the ones on the current model and they each get three short strips of LED daytime running lights. It’s a modern interpretation of one of the original Mustang’s defining styling cues that cleverly provides the 2018 model with a new lighting signature. A redesigned bumper, a lower hood, and horizontal turn signals round out the updates up front.

The most notable updates take place in the technological realm. New equipment includes a 12-inch, all-digital LCD dashboard screen that can be customized for Normal, Sport and Track modes. The Mustang’s Sync 3 infotainment system is now offered with Sync Connect, which allows owners to lock, unlock, locate and start vehicles using a phone.

Overall, the car’s exterior design is now more athletic, with a lower, remodeled hood and grille that deliver a leaner look and refined aerodynamics, upper and lower front grilles, and a new position for hood vents. For the first time the entire Mustang line will feature all-LED front lights including signature lighting, low-beams, turn signals, efficient projector high-beams and available fog lamps.

The 2018 Mustang sports a refreshed exterior design, with a lower, sleeker hood and squinty new LED headlights. Inside, buyers can now opt for a 12-inch-wide full digital instrument cluster to bring its retro-inspired cabin further into the 21st century.

The Mustang is one of the first Ford products offered with a digital instrument cluster. The optional 12-inch LCD unit offers three separate views that are fully configurable. It can be set up to display different information for the normal, sport, and track driving modes.

As said, the front is new, with new meaner LED headlights, new meshed grille, new razor-edged bumper, and even hood bumps are totally revised. Rear lights are in full LED, there are quad tailpipes, double on each side which translates as double in number than before, certainly increasing menacing factor from behind. If you go for Performance package you will be gifted with quite a huge wing at the back and if it is too tacky for you, Ford allows the exclusion of it.

The rear of the car gets revised LED taillamps for a more technical look, plus a new bumper, fascia and available performance spoiler. Dual-tip exhaust is standard for EcoBoost® Mustang, while V8-powered Mustang GT gets a standard quad-tip exhaust.

The exterior of the 2018 Mustang features several light adjustments. The front end gets a new hood and grille. The whole Mustang line now features LED headlights, as well. The rear end gets some new LED taillights and a slightly adjusted bumper. Like before, the number of exhaust tips grows larger with more powerful engines.

2018 Ford Mustang GT Engine

Performance is at the core of Mustang DNA, offering drivers a unique thrill of acceleration and cornering for the ultimate fun-to-drive experience. On all models, new shock absorbers make for better ride control, a new cross-axis joint in the rear suspension leads to increased lateral stiffness, and innovative stabilizer bars bring sharper response and handling.

The Mustang’s entry-level V6 has been dropped in favor of a two-engine lineup that includes a torquier version of the current 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder and a new 5.0-liter V8. The V8 features Ford’s “dual-fuel” port and direct fuel injection system — already in use on several of its turbocharged motors – that helps it rev higher and produce more efficient power than the 5.0-liter it replaces, which is rated at 435 hp. An optional dual-mode exhaust system for the V8 will let you pump up the volume of all those ponies galloping out of the pipes.

Ford’s legendary 5.0-liter V8 engine has been thoroughly reworked. It is more powerful and revs higher than any Ford Mustang GT before. This power increase was achieved with the first application for Mustang of Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection on a V8 engine – delivering robust low-end torque, high-rpm power, and improved fuel efficiency.
