2017 Mazda CX-4 Price

This concept is being brought out to reality by the production of the 2017 Mazda CX-4. The model is expected to make its first appearance to the public at the China Auto in Beijing in April 2016. Its production is supposed to have started, and the sales of this fancy SUV should start in the month of June. This car has unique head and tail lights, winged mirrors attached to the front door and uniquely shaped door handles. The pictures released of the final model looks exactly like the auto show model. In the year 2015, sales for the CX -3 went down by 9 per cent and it is expected this latest model will outdo this trend because the medium SUV went up by 11%. While the CX-5 is a family concept car, with a larger boot space and the CX-3 a bit smaller, the 2017 Mazda CX-4 will mediate between the two and will be more sophisticated.

Developed to “exceed existing categories and stereotypes,” the CX-4 bridges the gap between the Mazda3 and CX-5. About the same size as the CX-5, the CX-4 is not only a bigger proposition to the car-based CX-3, but also a sportier, coupe-like one. Unfortunately, there is no word whether this new crossover will be sold globally or offered just in China, but the fact that it was launched at the Beijing Auto Show could mean that its main focus is the world’s largest automobile market.

2017 Mazda CX-4 Specs

The 2017 Mazda CX-4 is almost a reproduction of the popular CX-5 but is built to be more stylish. It continues to use the CX-5’s underpinnings and chassis but gets a lower roofline. One concern with this design, however, is the possibility of compromising the headroom, especially for back-seat passengers. On the other hand, the leg room and cargo area get additional space, much like in the CX-9 concept.

It features KODO design on front fascia with massive bumper with shield-shaped grille surrounded with Koeru’s frame. “Surrounded” with LED headlights it represents new style that wasn’t seen on other Mazda’s vehicles before. Sportier appearance is enhanced with blacked-out chrome details instead shiny ones. Looking from the rear we can notice that its taillights are larger than other Mazda vehicles with thicker chrome strip between them. Its tailgate has smoother appearance and lower position with taller position of windscreen. Coupe design is enhanced with B- and C-pillars and they are blacked-out for more aggressive design.

The most noticeable and unique feature of this SUV are the elongated headlamps, with additional fog lamps. The lower grille and the upper grille including the front bumper have been fine tuned in order to for less expensive manufacturing. The wheels have been slightly pushed inside the body, and the car has some unique side mirrors attached to the door. They have removed the glossy finish which was there in the CX-3. The CX-4 is supposed to have a straddle that is between the CX-3 and the CX-5. It is also sportier than the two models. This model has a height of 1,500 mm, 4,600 mm in length and 1,900 mm in width. It also has a wheel base of 2,700 mm. Therefore it is slightly larger than the CX – which is already in the market and slightly smaller than the CX-5 which is still on its concept face.

The cabin tapers toward its rear and blends with the flare of the rear fenders to form a trapezoidal shape that expands outward toward the bottom to emphasize the ground-gripping stance of the tires. The design achieves the sharply angled rear window that tapers inward toward the bottom and wide shoulders that are symbolic of a premium coupe. To properly embody the beautiful flow from the sides of the roof to the rear that gives coupes their appeal, veteran clay modelers carefully repeated a series of surface adjustments in increments of tenths of a millimeter at a time as they toiled to create a form that is beautiful when viewed from any angle.

Mazda gave us a good look at the CX-4’s interior before its debut and it seems like nothing changed since then. Not surprisingly, the CX-4’s cabin isn’t as fancy as the Koeru’s, but more in line with what we already saw in the CX-5. The center stack layout is pretty much the same, with an infotainment screen above the rectangular A/C vents and all the knobs and buttons below. However, the touchscreen is a free-standing type unit, whereas the CX-5 has it integrated into the center stack.

2017 Mazda CX-4 Engine

The 2017 Mazda CX-4 targets those customers who like a sporty feel but still have a family. It is an improvement for the CX-4 customers. It will have a 2.5 liter engine, which is turbo charged. The engine is known as the SkyActiv engine and there will be an option for a diesel engine for the European market.
