2017 Ford Kuga Redesign

If the Ford Kuga looks similar to another Blue Oval model, well it is because it has a twin sister. 2017 Ford Kuga is the identical European version of the American Ford Escape.  Technically, we have already seen how the Kuga looks like because Ford showcased the 2017 Ford Escape in Los Angeles Auto Show in late November last year.

Within this division, many models are developed and designed in order to expressly tackle the unique needs of the consumers of the European marketplace. With that being said, it is no wonder that there is a great deal of anticipation surrounding the 2017 Ford Kuga. This is a vehicle that was first introduced to the European automotive market in the calendar year 2007 and is currently ready to present to consumers as the second offering of the second generation of the vehicle. Given that there was a wondrous mid-cycle refresh afforded to the vehicle recently, there is not much hope for a number of radical modifications to materialize. The automotive giant has kept fairly mum in regards to what consumers should expect from the new Kuga, but what is known will be shared with you below.

The new Ford Kuga delivers an even more technologically advanced, refined and affordable sports utility vehicle (SUV), making driving simpler, safer and more enjoyable for growing numbers of SUV customers in Europe.

The new Ford Kuga offers Ford’s sophisticated SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, innovative driver assistance technologies, an ergonomic and comfortable interior, and powerful and efficient engines including Ford’s 120 PS 1.5-litre TDCi diesel that returns 4.4 l/100 km (64.2 mpg) and 115 g/km CO2.

The new Kuga also features Ford’s Perpendicular Parking technology that helps drivers park hands free in spaces alongside other cars; an enhanced version of the Active City Stop collision avoidance system; and Ford’s Adaptive Front Lighting System for optimised visibility in low light. Further advanced technologies include Hands-Free Liftgate and Ford Intelligent All Wheel Drive (AWD).

2017 Ford Kuga Specs

In regards to the interior of the new 2017 Ford Kuga, there will be a smaller offering of novelties. The cabin will continue to play host to an updated and highly functional infotainment system as well as an array of convenient standard features. There are rumors swarming about proclaiming that the interior will see new standard features as well, but that has yet to be addressed via the Ford Motor Company. There does not appear to be any further alterations made to the cabin, nor is there any additional confirmed information regarding what consumers should expect from within the vehicle.

The upcoming 2017 Ford Kuga looks sportier and mainly with the obvious changes occurring on its front fascia. Inspired by the design idiom used with Ford Edge, the 2017 Ford Kuga gets a large six-point grille, new double xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and a rehashed bumper design. At the rear end of this SUV is the re-trimmed bumper and tail lamps. The back part also reveals revised internals and sharpened tailgate grab panels – the design mirrors the front end’s new muscular look.

The interior only features a few improvements compared to that of the outgoing model. In fact, it takes a closer look to discover these differences.  First, there is a new 3-spoke steering wheel sourced from the Focus, a heated steering wheel is optional. The steering wheel is also mounted with new climate control switchgear.

The center console has also been reconfigured with a space-saving strategy i.e. the automaker has installed a new space saving parking brake, a modified gear lever, relocated the 12V power socket while its cup-holders have been moved forward next to the gear lever. This has freed up space which has allowed addition of a storage tray just ahead of the armrests. A new USB port has also been added to the set up.

2017 Ford Kuga Engine

The 2017 Ford Kuga SUV will be powered by a number of engines.  Ford has introduced a new diesel engine to the drive-train lineup. The new unit is a 1.5 L TDCi which is offered with FWD. The new engine will improve the vehicle’s fuel economy by 5% to 64.2 mpg on combined drives without compromising on power output.  The engine produces 118 hp.

There is also a 2.0 L TDCi diesel mill rated at 148 hp when paired to either a FWD or the automaker’s Intelligent AWD system. This engine returns 60.1 mpg on combined drives. The engine can be tuned to produce 180 hp which is only available with the Intelligent AWD system. This version returns 54.3 mpg.

The 2017 Ford Kuga gets a new 1.5-liter TDCi turbo diesel engine which packs 118 horsepower – but only available with front-wheel drive. This engine has an impressive fuel efficiency ratio and CO2 emissions (just around 115 g/km), making this car very eco-friendly.

Other engines available include the 2.0-liter TDCi diesel packing 146 hp and runs on both AWD and FWD versions. There is also the 180 hp 2.0-liter TDCi diesel equipped with intelligent AWD. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbo petrol engine is available in either 120 hp(with 118 hp) and 150 hp (with 148 horsepower) with FWD, and an 182 hp (with 180 hp) with AWD.

Under the hood of the new 2017 Ford Kuga, there are said to be no changes as compared to the current model offering. The power for the vehicle will continue to derive from a duo of gasoline powered EcoBoost engines. The first of which is that of a 1.6 liter engine that is capable of a maximum output of upwards of 148 as well as 180 brake horsepower. The second power unit option is a 2.0 liter engine that is able to provide an estimated output of upwards of 240 brake horsepower. Additionally, consumers will have the ability to opt for a diesel powered engine. That engine is a Duratorq 2.0 liter that will have an output range of 138 to 178 brake horsepower.
